Don’t worry, your wait is finally over! I’m back with the highly anticipated part 2 of Agency Entourage’s ABC’s of social media series. Like I said in Agency Entourage’s ABC’s of Social Media: Part 1, social media really can be easy, it’s just all about strategy.

Here’s the rest of what you need to know:

  • N– Never be afraid to put yourself out there. If you have something appropriate to say, go ahead and say it. Don’t be worry that no one will respond because no matter what, people will see it.
  • O– Optimize all of your content. If you can tag another product or company, link to a website, or use an image or video, do it. Optimize all of the content that you push out into the social media world to see better results from your posts.
  • PPinterest is the next big thing. If you haven’t requested an invite, you’re missing out. It’s all about pinning these days. As a company or brand, it’s definitely time to start experimenting with the ways that you can utilize Pinterest’s features.
  • Q: Quality, not quantity is a main key in social media content. Don’t worry so much about sending out a certain number of posts. Rather, focus more on the information that you put in each post.
  • R:  Real-time information and conversations are one of the best parts of social media. For the first time, businesses and brands are able to see exactly what people are saying about them, what people are wanting, and what other companies are doing at the exact moment it is all being done.
  • S: Social media offers a way to share information with a large audience base that may be completely different from the audience you would reach through other forms of media. The world is definitely in a transitional process between media forms and social media is growing more and more each day.
  • T: Twitter and Tumblr are two of the popular platforms. While Tumblr isn’t as big as Twitter, it’s still a great tool and has a large audience base that you can tap into.
  • U: Utilize everything that social media platforms have to offer. When you first start a social media account, be sure to explore all of the capabilities. There may be things that are available you didn’t even know about!
  • V: Voice matters, so pay attention to your tone. It’s great to be conversational, but you still need to keep a hint of professionalism in your tone when you are speaking as a brand or company.
  • W: What works on one platform may not necessarily work on another. Each platform has a little variation between users. The people you find on Facebook may not necessarily be using Twitter, and vice versa.
  • X: eXperiment with your content. Find what works best for your brand or company by trying out different types of content across each of your social media platforms.
  • Y: YouTube is a social platform geared toward video sharing. You can set up a channel for your brand or business and share your advertisements, commercials, or any type of video you may have. Check out our Agency Entourage YouTube Channel to see what I’m talking about.
  • Z: amaZing things are waiting on you in the world of social media, you just need to tap into your resources. If you don’t join the craze now, you’ll fall behind before you know it.
And there you have it folks, the ABC’s of social media. While this isn’t everything you could ever need to know, it’s a great over view with all of the basics. Don’t be afraid to dive in head first. I promise that you will learn as you go. Just remember, everyone else had to start somewhere, too.
While my heart will always stay with Facebook, I love Twitter and have definitely taken a liking to Pinterest, too. What is your favorite social media platform to use?
