Meagan Bak
Hello! My name is Meagan Bak, and I am one of the newest members of the Agency Entourage team. I will be interning for the duration of the summer with this lively and focused group. I am thrilled to be working in an environment and in an industry where I can grow from classroom knowledge to real life experience. I’ve always known that this is what I wanted to do, and I can’t wait to jump in.

Born and raised in Aurora, Colorado, I’ve learned that things are a whole lot different, and a whole lot bigger, down in Texas. My mom’s side of the family is from here, so I had grown up with a taste of the South, but it wasn’t ever enough. I’ve always craved the big city and the southern hospitality Texas has to offer, which is why I am so excited to be staying here to work this summer. As soon as I graduated high school, I packed my bags for Dallas to attend SMU.

Many college students go through the often-traumatic task of picking a major. But, that was never an issue for me. I’ve been fascinated by people since I was a kid. I always wanted to know why people did things, and how they were persuaded to do so. My parents always told me I was cut out for sales. From the age of five, I began running (quite successful) lemonade stands on my driveway. As I got older, I realized I’m not nearly thick-skinned enough to commit to sales. I quickly settled on a major in marketing with an advertising minor to complement it. This gave me the best of both worlds. I added a psychology minor in an effort to finally understand people, and hopefully, understand how to appeal to them.

I’ve never faltered in certainty of my career in marketing, but I have done some work in other fields to narrow down exactly what I want to do within the industry. My first internship was at a real estate company. While I learned a lot, and gained skills that will help me grow professionally, I quickly realized real estate was not for me. I prefer people to buildings and campaigns to listings. I needed something more interactive. While looking into internships this summer, I came across Agency Entourage. With a huge client portfolio and a concentration in digital marketing, I knew this was the next step.

I love to multitask, and get bored if I am focused on just one thing for weeks on end. An agency like this one will provide the diversity I crave this summer in order to grow in as many ways as possible. I hope to get a feel for all departments of an agency, but I plan to specifically focus on account planning. My goal is to really hone client interaction skills and communication. I think this is where I would be the most useful, and I think it is where I could grow the most. I know this summer will be filled with a genuine balance of work and a great time, and I am looking forward to all the projects to come and the experience to be gained along the way!
