The holiday season is in full swing all around us here at Agency Entourage and it’s also happening all over the blogosphere. We want to know – how is your blog participating?

Ideas for Holiday Blogging

Plenty of ideas are available for bloggers to take advantage of this time of year when everyone is online sharing ideas, finding gifts and reaching out to loved ones.

First off, consider hosting a give-a-way on your blog. The prize can be a gift card to a local store, a donation to your favorite charity or a unique item perfect for that impossible-to-shop-for friend. You could encourage your readers to enter by leaving a comment about their favorite holiday tradition.

Just as you would hang stockings and trim the tree at your home or office, make sure to decorate your blog too! Choose a new theme for the month or just incorporate festive colors in your posts. You could also include personal pictures that show how you’ve decorated your office or home this year, and ask your readers to comment on their favorite.

Choose from a wide range of topics for the blog such as, “Where Your Favorite Holiday Customs Originated”, “10 Shipping Resources for the Holidays” or “Using Hashtags to Get Noticed During the Holidays.” You could also compile a “Best of 2011” post that incorporates your favorite (or most popular) blog posts you wrote over the past year.

And lastly, who doesn’t love a list of gift ideas? You could do several for different price ranges or for different recipients such as: “Top Ten Gift Ideas for the World Traveler” or “Sparkly Gift Ideas for Under $50.” Make sure to include links to where your readers can find the gift (and maybe share a promotional code if you know of one)!

If you’re worried that keeping up with your blog during the holidays may take you away from time with loved ones, consider “storing up for winter.” Look at your calendar and figure out the days that you’re going to be busy and schedule your posts accordingly.

Even though there may not be as many comments or page views on your site while everyone is caroling or wrapping presents, you’ll still reap the long term benefits of consistent posting. So please share with us how you are celebrating the holidays on your blog this year or what has worked best in years past.

Now go make yourself a cup of hot cocoa, enjoy the warmth inside and start blogging!
