You’re probably wondering “New“? But he’s been there for like three months!” And it’s true! Better late than never though, right?
I grew up just north of Houston in Spring, Texas. After graduating from Baylor University in 2009 with a degree in Journalism, I moved to Dallas to start my career and eat fried food at the Texas State Fair. From 2009-2010, I was a “Young Free Texas Spokester,” representing credit unions throughout the great state of Texas by blogging, film-making and driving around in a whimsically decorated Toyota Prius.
From there, I started working with a Canadian marketing firm; once again using social media to help reign in a new generation of credit union members. During that time, I hosted a weekly live web show called “Why Gen Y Live,” which explored best practices and emerging methods of crafting marketing campaigns that would keep credit unions relevant in a digital age. I began to build my career as a speaker, traveling throughout the United States and Canada to present case studies and presentations concerning the habits of Gen Y.
In 2010, I applied to become a full-time “shirt wearer” with the innovative startup IWearYourShirt.com. For almost 18 months, I produced a YouTube video and hosted a live show every single day (including Saturday and Sunday), working to build the online social communities of companies such as AriZona Iced Tea, Starbucks, Jockey, Lucky Brand, Mitsubishi and literally over 400 others.
In my spare time, I enjoy live tweeting events, poorly baking recipes from Pinterest, bow-ties and watching back episodes of Real World/ Road Rules Challenge. I also want to be a Power Ranger when I grow up.
