After months of speculation and anticipation in the social media community, Facebook Timeline for brand pages are finally here! But before you make the switch, here’s what you’ll need to know:

You have a cover photo
Just like personal Facebook profiles, page Timelines now also have cover photos. This is a great way to help visually represent your brand. Your cover photo can be up to 850 pixels by 315 pixels, however it can not include any of the following:

-Price or purchase information
-Contact information, such as web address, email or mailing address
-References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
-Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”

No more default landing pages
Facebook has removed the ability to create a default landing tab. Now new pages can be designed to be up to 760 pixels wide.

Your apps have moved
Your uploaded photos, likes and apps are no longer on the left-side of your page. They now live just below your cover photo. Photos can’t be moved and are in the first slot, however all other apps can be moved around. Display a maximum of 12 apps.

Pin a post to the top
Have a Facebook post that you want to give some extra attention? Now you can pin a favorite post to the top of your Timeline. To pin a post to the top click the pencil icon in the top left corner of the post. To make a post larger, simply click the star icon to make it twice as large.

Fans can send messages
Facebook has finally made it easier for fans and page admins to communicate through private messaging. Messages can only be initiated by fans. Admins receive a notification when a message is received.
