 In ae-ideas, ae-interns

Hello! My name is Josh Wright, Agency Entourage’s new intern, and up until this point in my life, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. It seemed at every opportunity, life threw me a curveball that completely shattered what I knew to be true. Little did I know that through all of this controlled chaos, I would find the one thing I knew I could do for the rest of my life.

Intern | Josh Wright

When I boiled it all down, my love for writing was the most solid connection I had to the professional world. As my first official stab at copywriting outside of my education, I couldn’t be more excited to be a fall intern here at Agency Entourage.

At the young age of 15, I knew I was destined to go to the University of North Texas. This is where all of my friends were going, and where I was certain I would be majoring in music education. Upon arrival to a tour of the university, I was greeted with a HUGE list of classes I would need to take and realized they had already planned out my next five years. This did not sit well with me so I sought out other options.

I discovered my love for advertising and creativity almost by accident. Feeling lost from my decision to not pursue music as a full-time career, I needed something stable to keep me going. This is when I realized I could combine my two passions, music and writing, into one career and be a jingle writer! I don’t know where I got this idea, probably from that incredibly mediocre show where Charlie Sheen fulfills the same career.

About as soon as I got to UNT, however, my dream was crushed when my first professor enlightened me that the art of jingle writing was practically dead. Luckily, as my education continued, I fell in love with advertising and marketing in a way that I never thought possible.

Now a graduate of the University of North Texas (minus this one internship credit, of course) I am ready to start learning the ropes for the job I will spend the rest of my life pursuing. My creative endeavors reach much further than just copywriting though. I have also dabbled quite a bit with art direction, songwriting and music journalism. Whether it’s going on tours of the US (and soon Canada and Mexico) with my band, writing for the music news publication The Bad Copy or photoshopping pictures of my friends in odd situations, I am always trying to find new outlets for my creativity. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the fruits of your labor work out in ways you didn’t expect. That’s exactly what this internship is for me, and I am grateful to be here.

For those still wondering who the “real” Josh Wright is, I’ve decided to include a list of fun facts about AE’s newest intern:
