Agency Entourage Social Media Mobile Use

In an effort to stay up to date on the latest and greatest in the social media world, for both Agency Entourage and myself, I have set up a slew of Google Alerts. One jewel that came through my inbox from Mashable was an eye catching study about social network usage on mobile devices.

Maybe this caught my attention because I am an avid user of almost all social apps on my mobile device, or maybe it’s because the study is yet another testimonial of the truly unbelievable popularity of social media.

The proof really is in the pudding, just look at these stats from the research firm comScore:

38.2 million people use social networks on their phones almost every day

84.6% of mobile social network users are checking posts from people they actually know personally

73.6% of users post status updates from their mobile devices, the second most popular mobile activity

58% of U.S. mobile device users read posts from companies or brands. This is a statistic that I really love from a digital marketing standpoint

32% users even click on ads while accessing social networks from their mobile devices

While most researchers seem to attribute these growing numbers to the increase in smartphone usage, I like to think that it also has something to do with the surge in social media content being posted across each platform on a daily basis.

Social media mobile access fun fact: the top app that people use is Facebook, both on iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) and Android. Twitter is well behind Facebook, even being passed by Words With Friends.

My top three mobile social apps are Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. What social media site do you access most from your mobile device?
