Daniel Amotsuka, Summer Intern
On the day of my internship interview at Agency Entourage, I walked into the office and was greeted with a smile from a young woman in a T-shirt, jeans and a pair of Chuck Taylors. I remember thinking – does she work here? Is she someone’s daughter or friend just hanging around the office? But as I walked through the rest of the office and noticed the work environment and everyone else’s casual attire, I soon realized I was the one that looked completely out of place. Sitting there in my shirt, tie and oxford shoes, I immediately felt like a stick in the mud. Thankfully, the team didn’t think so because I bagged the internship and so far, my first few weeks as an intern have been nothing short of amazing.
The first day is usually nerve-wracking for a new intern. You’re unsure of what to expect, you’re trying hard to make a good impression, you’re worried about your lack of coffee making skills (I don’t know how to work a coffeemaker. That’s horrible, right?). After the first 15 minutes, I realized there was nothing to be worried about. Everyone was incredibly friendly and seemed to be excited to have the new interns on board. The casual environment and open table workspaces all help foster creativity and positive work relationships. Now that I’ve gotten past the initial hump of the first few days as a new intern, here are the goals I have for this internship-
Learn Everything Possible – Digital advertising is a new and evolving industry. The professionals at AE know their stuff. Being around for an entire summer is an incredible opportunity and I plan to take full advantage of it.
Find Ways To Add Value To The Team – When the internship is over, I want my presence to be missed.
Build Lasting Professional Relationships – The people I work with here are great and I look forward to collaborating with them during my internship and hopefully, even after it’s over too.
Learn How To Work A Coffee Maker – This could go under “Learn Everything Possible” but I think it deserves its own category. For all I know, I’m a coffee connoisseur waiting to be discovered.
Agency Entourage means business. This agency has a clear vision and a strong commitment to delivering great results for its clients. I never thought I’d be saying these words but – I couldn’t be more excited to be [an Agency Entourage] groupie!
Jessie Elizondo, Summer Intern
Hola! My name is Jessie and I’m one of the new summers interns here at Agency Entourage. Born and raised through a Hispanic-American family in Dallas, Texas, I couldn’t be more excited to begin my first internship at a digital marketing agency deep in the heart of my hometown. I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington and Vice President of Professional Activities for the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity. Branding is my passion, and my background is in business with an emphasis in marketing.
When I began my college career in the fall of 2011 at UT Arlington, I had no idea what career path I wanted to pursue. One of my friends, who I met during freshmen orientation, dragged me into the College of Business info session and that’s when I fell in love with the art of business.
Summer came in the blink of an eye and Best Buy offered me a higher paying job as a Wireless Sales Consultant. My summer at Best Buy is what caused me to finally declare my major under marketing. Their relationship building strategy taught me that sales did not depend on aggressive sales techniques, but rather on the customer’s decision to purchase the product. It was about meeting customers’ needs better than the competition with profitable long-term relationships. It felt awesome having the ability to influence customers to go iPhone or Android, and I wanted to study the complete process of communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that have value for customers.
There are many components to study in the complex art of marketing, but this summer I wanted to get the hands on experience in marketing communications. Specifically, I wanted to understand digital marketing since the world of digital media is dynamically changing the way we choose and buy our products and services. I believe Agency Entourage will provide me with the training I need to strategically think when constructing a promotional mix in my future career. This agency promotes diversity in their work environment with employees who come from many different backgrounds, and that’s one of the key elements to a successful business. I look forward to having fun, learning and working with an upbeat and unique team this summer.
