With the online public relations world comes blogging. PR blogs are everywhere! And having a steady, reliable blog is a necessity these days for professionals, whether it be for the traditional or digital side of things.
There are many smart, strategic PR blogs and bloggers out there that can keep you up-to-date with the latest news and resources for the industry. They can also become a helpful source for inspiration, tutorials, how-tos and much more.
Below, I’d like to share five of my favorite PR blogs that keep me subscribed and engaged:
5. PR Couture
Thanks in part to Pinterest, my obsession with the fashion world has escalated to new heights (which I don’t know if that’s a good thing…). But, I can put that interest in fashion to good use when I read PR Couture’s blog. Focusing strictly on Fashion PR (A very exciting world!), PR Couture covers the fashion PR profession and explores the role of public relations, marketing and social media in the fashion industry. Their posts range from interviews with fashion PR practitioners to guest posts from the industry’s best.
4. Spin Sucks
First off, I love the name of this blog. Call me immature, but saying something “sucks” just makes me laugh. But don’t disregard this blog due to its name. Spin Sucks helps to prove how helpful and necessary the PR industry is and turns around the negative implications applied to PR and marketing. Plus, their blog post topics are must-reads for any PR pro.
3. Chris Brogan
If you don’t know this name by now and you work in this industry, there might be something wrong. Chris Brogan is an influential leader not only amongst the public relations side of things, but almost all things digital. He offers advice and gives personal examples that help readers come to better terms with the industry as a whole. Not to mention, his musings are always entertaining to read. I enjoy his writing style!
2. prTini
One of my favorite writers, Heather Whaling of the blog prTini, is also one of my role models in the public relations field. After years of working in PR agencies, Whaling launched her own company, Geben Communications, and with that, her blog. On prTini, you will read about her findings through personal experiences, her thoughts on the industry and more. What I love about the blog is Whaling does give a lot of personal examples in her posts. Often, I find myself enjoying posts like these a bit more because I feel that you can learn from them. You can understand why someone did something and understand the result of it. She’s also a very strong writer so, I turn to her blog to study her language, writing flow and style as well.
1. PR Daily
Duh! If we’re connected on LinkedIn or you follow me on Twitter, you know PR Daily’s blog is a resource I not only read every day, but share every day. They’re the PR industry’s number one publication so I’ve got to hand it to them, they’re easily my favorite. Covering everything from breaking news to offering tips such as what to do at the end of an internship or how to manage your social media calendar, I enjoy PR Daily’s collaborative efforts with some of the brightest members in the PR world.
