Now that we are all getting settled in to the idea of what this year’s SXSW will bring us, it’s also getting harder for marketers to stand out above the crowd. Everyone is also beginning to have information overload and as the week progresses it’s becoming more of a challenge to create a unique experience for SXSW attendees. Let’s review day three’s best marketing ideas at SXSW.
1. Day Three Winner – NPR Generation Listen Launch Party: Social Booth by Agency Entourage: NPR launched their Generation Listen initiative last night at the Ranch Inn, Austin, TX. Generation Listen, to quote their Twitter profile, is “Generation Listen is a movement to bring younger and more diverse ideas, perspectives and voices into the NPR dialogue. – http://twitter.com/NPRGenListen.” NPR wanted to make the event highly social and encourage their attendees to share their experience. This is where Agency Entourage rolls up with the Social Booth. Launch party attendees could take pics, share on Twitter, add a hashtag, post to Facebook and email to friends. Additionally, the NPR group was live-tweeting from the event and helped fuel the conversation online once attendees posted their social booth pics. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for pics from the event.
2. Day Three Runner Up – National Geographic #NatGeo80s: To promote their three-day 80s TV show marathon, Nat Geo hosted an 80s party at Antone’s last night. During the day leading up to the party they were providing free rides around town in the Dukes of Hazard “General Lee,” the A-Team Van and the Back to the Future Delorean. Great execution for a themed event, Nat Geo!
