On Friday night eyes around the world will be watching the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony live from London. This year, more than ever social media will play an enormous roll in how we watch, share and experience the summer games. Personally, I’ll be following the #London2012 hashtag on Twitter and tagging all of my watch party tweets with it. Time Magazine has called the London Games “the first social media Olympics.” While social media was around in 2008 during the Beijing Olympics, it has since exploded globally and it’s power to connect the world will be on display like never before.

Simply put, the way we consume and share information has drastically changed over the last 4 years. Mobile and social will revolutionize this year’s Olympic experience.
