Twitter, the Social Media Management Network That's Always on Time

If you spent even five minutes perusing your Twitter timeline on Friday, in the midst of iPhone 5 gossip and the details of Ryan Reynold’s and Blake Lively’s surprise wedding, you were probably made aware of the bomb threats at both the University of Texas at Austin and North Dakota State University.

Oddly enough, it is in times of crisis that I am reminded of one of the things I love most about social media- that thing is timeliness.

No matter what the news may be, you can always count on Twitter to give you full details almost instantaneously.

When I think back on some of the biggest events of the summer, on both a personal level and public level, I realize that I always turned to Twitter for more information. When the 2012 Olympics were taking place, I followed NBC and various US Olympic Team athletes for real-time updates of the games. And when there was a shooter near the Texas A&M University campus, I went directly to Twitter to gather more details on the event. Yes, that’s right, I’m an Aggie!

Aside from breaking news details, Twitter is also a great resource for pro-sports updates, 2012 election news, world news and, of course, all of the pop culture news and gossip you could ever want.

Next time something major happens and you want to stay in the loop on the breaking news, just get on Twitter!
