Content-marketing-blackwhiteContent marketing is everywhere. A lot of the time it seems like brands try to be everywhere too. This isn’t always a great strategy. Here are three platforms your brand is probably not using. Does one of them make sense for your brand?

Reddit
Reddit

Reddit is easily one of the most entertaining websites on the internet. It’s a gold mine for finding high-quality, niche content. Known as The Front Page of The Internet, Reddit offers the opportunity of being a dream content marketing tool.

The reason most brands aren’t on Reddit is because of how difficult it can be to get noticed. It’s the place to go to online for anything and everything. There are literally hundreds of thousands of subreddits dedicated to specific topics. If you can think of something, there’s probably a subreddit for it.

Another aspect of Reddit that makes it hard to get noticed is that your content has to be incredible and unique. It also needs to be upvoted by the Reddit community to reach the first page.

Kissmetrics put together a great breakdown on Reddit. According to them, “Reddit users are male, between the ages of 35-44 (with 25-34 year-olds not far behind), and with income levels generally around $25,000-$50,000 per year. Most Redditors have a bachelor’s degree or at least some college education, and the overwhelming majority of their users come from the U.S. (in particular San Francisco and Seattle) with Canada (Toronto) a close second.”

Reddit isn’t going to be the best place for every content marketer. However, it could be a valuable platform to keep in your marketing back pocket.

SnapChat

SnapChat

SnapChat is the network that Facebook and Instagram love to copy. Just last year, the platform surpassed 60 million daily users in North America. How can it be used for content marketing?

Each day, more and more brands are adopting SnapChat as a content marketing platform. Whether it be through organic posts or through a paid geo filters, SnapChat is becoming a place where brands see value.

The platform recently had an IPO. At the time that this is being written (March 24, 2017) SnapChat is valued at right around $20 billion. I think it’s safe to say that we will continue to see a rise in advertising on SnapChat as the platform continues to grow.

It will be vital for SnapChat to follow a similar path as Facebook when it comes to working with brands. Does SnapChat work for your brand?

Nextdoor

NextDoor

Nextdoor is a private platform that connects residents to their neighbors. It’s a great tool to use when you need to know about what’s going on in your neighborhood.

Nextdoor presents a hyper-local marketing opportunity for brands. Yes, there is a paid element to the platform and posting organically as a business is currently a very gray area in Nextdoor’s official posting rules. However, according to Nextdoor they are “actively working to roll out Nextdoor For Business across the US.”

Keep an eye on the progress of Nextdoor and your content could make you the talk of the neighborhood.
