The true SXSW experience is not only found attending sessions. SXSW is home to hundreds of brand activations and experiential marketing concepts that offer a unique way to learn about brands and upcoming industry initiatives. This year, IBM presented ‘Experience IBM at SXSW 2017.’ Located at 204 E 4th Street, this interactive event is not one to miss out on. I experienced IBM at SXSW 2017 and brainstormed some awesome ideas to take home to our clients.

Experience IBM was, to say the least, a glimpse into our future. It was a world full of virtual reality, chatbots, and innovation. IBM focused on six main ideas that start with “IBM is making…”:

- Our world more secure
- Our world more personal
- Our world healthier
- Our world more creative
- Personali-tee connections
The IBM experience challenged our thinking. Technology is inserting itself into our daily rituals. Your living room, your bedroom, even your bathroom. IBM gave us a glimpse of what is to come in the future. The question is, how will this affect the advertising industry? How can we, as industry experts, create something valuable for our clients and guide them through the ever-changing technology landscape in a way that benefits them and their fans? As an agency with many retail clients like SEI, we need to be brainstorming how to integrate these new initiatives with their brand and products.
