What does SEO stand for?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a combination of strategies and tactics used to increase the amount of website visitors by earning a high placement on the search engine results page (SERP). Cross-linking between important pages of your website, writing relevant content and keeping your website regularly updated are just a few tactics to increase search engine optimization.

How many searches are there per day on Google?
This is a very common questions we get. Google does not actually disclose this exact number. However, Search Engine Land recently published an article that suggests that Google has a minimum of 2 trillion searches a year. That breaks down to 63,000 searches per second, 3.8 million per minute and 5.5 billion a day.

How do I increase my business’ rank on Google?

How do I optimize a page on my website?
Every landing page on your website serves a purpose. It is important that each page follows SEO best practice. In general, you want the content of the page to be keyword rich. That means having keywords strategically placed throughout the page. You’ll want to make sure your keyword is in the H1, H2, the first paragraph of the page, inside the meta description and ALT text. There are several technical SEO factors to take into consideration as well. That’s something you should contact us about.

Social Media

How do I build an organic following on social media?
There are many methods of building an organic following on social media. Before posting, you should write out your content strategy. Find your audience and figure out what type of content they want to see. Once you have this start posting your content.

For Instagram and Twitter it’s a good idea to follow a theme to a specific niche and build a following organically through content marketing and hashtags. An easy way to grow your organic following on Facebook is to ask your current customers to follow you. You can easily accomplish this through email marketing, in-person calls to action and incentives.

How should I use Facebook Live for marketing?
Facebook Live can be used in multiple ways, but it’s most effective when broadcasting instructional, educational or isolated events. For example, service providers like hair stylists or handymen could leverage Facebook Live for instructional videos on frequently asked questions from clients. Larger companies could broadcast live events. Facebook Live’s marketing potential has yet to be fully realized.

Paid Media

What does SEM mean?
SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. This is a form of Internet marketing that promotes websites through paid placements in the search engine results page (SERP). On Google, a green “Ad” box indicates these paid placements.

Why do I see ads for products I looked at on different websites?

This type of advertising can be a great return on investment for marketers. It is commonly referred to as “remarketing” campaigns.

What is remarketing?
Remarketing is the process of advertising to specific people who are already familiar with your business. These people can be visitors to your website or customers on an email/phone list.

What platforms can I remarket on?
The most common platforms to remarket on are Google Display Network, Facebook and YouTube.

How does remarketing work?
The two most common ways to remarket involve email lists and website cookies. Customer lists can be uploaded to Facebook via spreadsheet. On average, one-third of customers on the list will have the same email address or phone number associated with their Facebook. The other way to remarket is to put tracking codes on your website. When a user lands on specific landing pages, he or she will have a tracking cookie added to their browser’s cache. You will then be able to remarket to them on Facebook, Google Display Network and YouTube.

How much does a click cost on Facebook and Google?
Cost per click (CPC) varies by industry, competition and traffic. Business X could have a $0.01 CPC on Google Display Network (GDN), $1.00 CPC on Paid Search and $0.75 on Facebook, while Business Y has $0.25 CPC on GDN, $10.00 CPC on Paid Search and $3.00 CPC on Facebook. CPC tends to go down as you refine your targeting.

Email Marketing

Is email marketing effective?
Email marketing provides a number of benefits compared to traditional mediums. For one, emails are cheap to produce and send compared to creating a TV commercial and buying media. From a measurability standpoint, you can prove the value of every email you send. Within 24 hours you know which messages were opened, who opened them and which links were clicked. Emails also create impressions with your brand that may lead to future sales through alternative routes.

When is the best time to send email marketing?
Tuesdays and Thursdays are highly recommended days to send your marketing emails. If you’re sending the email to a business audience, avoid the early morning. Working professionals are most likely to open your email in the late morning or early afternoon.

There are factors you should consider to determine the right day and time to send your email newsletter. The industry, purpose of the email, audience segmentation and even the time of the year could affect your email campaign performance.

How can I improve email open rates?
Your email subject line should stand out from a crowded inbox and spark interest. Take the time to craft a compelling and relevant subject line for your audience. A/B testing multiple subject lines with a small portion of your list before sending the email to the rest of your subscribers can help you determine the most effective subject line to increase open rates.

Timing is also key for improving email open rates. Pick an appropriate time and day of the week to send your email. For more tips on the best times to send email marketing please refer to, “When is the best time to send email marketing?”

Lead Generation

What is lead generation?
Lead generation is the process of attracting a person previously unaware of your business and converting them into someone that has indicated interest in your product or service.

What’s the best way to generate online leads?
There are many ways to generate leads online and your specific business goals will influence how you collect and qualify leads. Many businesses require a user to fill out a simple form, sometimes just a name and email address, in order to download a valuable piece of content or acquire a special offer.

Landing pages are often used as dedicated webpages with the goal of converting visitors to complete the lead generation form. Users will often find the landing page through social media or other online channels.

What is direct response marketing?

Online advertising is especially suitable for direct response because of its ability to track and measure results.

Direct response campaigns target a specific niche or audience with an enticing offer. Examples include asking people to opt-in to your email list, filling out an online contact form or even placing an order on your website.
